Patient’s Rights
  • You have the right to be treated with respect, consideration, compassion and dignity, in a safe and clean environment regardless of your age, gender, race, origin, religion, sexual orientation or disabilities.
  • You have the right to be addressed by your proper name and to be informed about the names of the doctors, nurses and other healthcare team members involved in your care.
  • You have the right to full consideration of your privacy, dignity and confidentiality in care discussions, examinations and treatments.
  • You have the right to a clear and understandable explanation by your doctor about your diagnosis, as well as the benefits and risks of each treatment and expected outcome. You also have the right to be informed about pain and pain relief measures and to participate in your pain management plan.
  • You have the right for protection from physical abuse and neglect.
  • You have the right to participate in decisions involving your healthcare, except when such participation is contradicted for medical reasons. You have the right to refuse any treatment.
  • You have the right to clarify all your doubts before signing the consent forms such as general consent form and consent form for surgery/anesthesia/high risk procedures.
  • You have a right to request for a second opinion and change your doctor.
  • You have the right to agree to, or refuse to, take part in medical research studies. You may at any time withdraw from a study, which will not affect your relationship with the treating doctor or the hospital. You will continue to be treated with the best treatment alternatives available for your ailment.
  • You have the right to be involved in your discharge plan. Prior to your discharge from the hospital, you can expect to receive information about follow-up care that may be needed after you are discharges.
  • You have the right to information on the following: Patient conduct and responsibilities; services available at our hospital; provisions for after-hours and emergency care; fees for services; payment policies; advance directives as required by state or national law and regulations; provider credentialing; and accurate information regarding the competence and capabilities of the organization.
  • You have the right to inspect and request a copy of your medical records.
  • You have the right to make suggestions and express grievances; to receive a personal response to same, if so requested; and to have continued access to care without intimidation, threat, coercion, discrimination, and other retaliatory action. No person will be asked to waive his or her rights, including the right to file a complaint regarding privacy, as a condition of treatment.
  • Following discussion with your healthcare team, if you need to discuss an ethical issue related to your care, a member of the ethics committee is available to you.
  • You have the right to have an interpreter if you do not understand the medium of communication.
    You have the right to know the expected cost of treatment.

Right to Confidentiality

At Sukhsadan Hospital, Pathankot, you can be assured of complete privacy and confidentiality during your stay at the hospital and after discharge. Your hospital records, in-patient as well as out-patient, will be treated with utmost confidentiality.

Discharge Procedure

The discharge process involves several activities, which can take up to two hours to complete. Your nurse will assist you in the discharge process. You will be required to clear your dues by paying in cash, through a bank draft or by credit card at the IPD counter and obtain a financial clearance slip for discharge. Your nurse will hand over the discharge summary to you as soon as you are ready to leave. She will also explain the medication that you need to continue.
Before your discharge, the clinical nutritionist will give you advice on your nutritional needs. The physiotherapist will also advise you about the exercise routine that you should observe (if necessary).
